Fondue is fun. Relaxing with family and friends over a warm pot of bubbling deliciousness is something meant to be enjoyed at its own pace (assuming the participants can agree on what to put in the pot). The shape of a fondue party, being one that can be either sweet or savory, can take on its own structure, yet the jostling for ingredients always remains the same. Unless, of course, the ingredients come to you.

The Cuisinart CF0-1000 Lazy Susan Electric Fondue ($79.99) is a fun, countertop device orbited by moveable ingredient trays. Featuring a built-in electric heating element in the base, the easy-to-use appliance is capable of not only chocolate or cheese fondue, but it can also be filled with oil or broth. The detachable thermostat controls a range of temperatures while the lazy Susan ring keeps each of the four ingredient trays hovering about an inch above the tabletop surface.

It just wouldn't be fondue if fondue forks weren't included, and this set delivers with a batch of eight individually colored stainless steel utensils. The set comes with a notched fork collar inside the pot as well as a glass lid for those extended fondue sessions. The interior of the 3-quart stainless steel pot is nonstick, so the appliance is not only easy to set up and enjoy, but easy to clean up after, too.

Kenwood Cooking Chef now available in the U.S.

Way back in October 2009, I wrote about the Kenwood Cooking Chef. The device has finally made it to the U.S. What sort of gadget is this machine that has taken so long to grace our shores? Well, the answer appears to be more of what it isn't as opposed to what it is.

Combining a stand mixer with an induction plate, the multitasking appliance carves out a new niche on the countertop. By allowing chefs to cook directly in the work bowl, the Kenwood Cooking Chef offers a new way to operate in the kitchen.

The highly precise induction heating element has a range of 68 degrees Fahrenheit to 284 degrees Fahrenheit and is designed to be put to use while the appliance is in use. The end result is that soup, pasta, rice dishes and more can be simultaneously cooked and mixed at the same time. But that is only the start.

In addition to the accessories one would expect to find with a stand mixer (like a dough hook, whisk, and stirring tool), the appliance also comes with attachments allowing it to be used as a blender and a food processor. The one appliance can literally handle everything from making soup to chopping nuts.

Has it been worth the wait? Well, that depends. At a price of just about two grand, this overachieving appliance is pretty much designed for the person who has everything. Then again, for the person who has everything, maybe all they need is an appliance that actually does everything. Either way, perhaps it's best to check back in another three years to see if it has become a little more affordable.

Combining an oven, steamer, toaster, broiler, roaster, and contact grill into one appliance, the overachieving appliance gives users the ability to cook most anything without taking up a lot of space.

A variety of accessories provides the means to cook everything from cupcakes to kebabs. Heating elements in the top and bottom of the unit give control over what is on the menu. Temperature can be adjusted from a keep warm setting up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, and a timer is also included.
